Since I travel to countries where the internet is censored I wrote a post about how to access Facebook in China This was the first time I was going to travel to China, and since it was not my first time traveling to a country where I have to find a way to unblock blocked sites, I already had a solution for myself. My solution to the internet censorship is called a web based proxy.
In short, a web based proxy service like https://anysitenow.com is the most simple way to regain access onto websites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube which have been banned in the country you are visiting, or living in. Whether you are traveling for a short or long period of time, most of us still want to be able to stay in touch and up to date with the people back home, the way that we are used to, be it Facebook, Twitter, Gmail or yahoo that we would like to unblock and access.
The reason I like using the China proxy as opposed to a virtual private network, also known as a VPN, is because of the simplicity of the proxy. If you use the free trial that Proxy Center offers, you will be able to see how easy the service is to use. All you have to do is go to the web page and once you are inside, you can type in the website you would like to go to. I recommend giving it a try, you have nothing to lose.
Once you have decided to use Securitales, all you have to do is fill in your information which takes about two minutes, and you will receive your log-in information. You may be one of those people who did not know that the internet in China is heavily censored and blocked by the great firewall, and guess what, you can get back on Facebook in the next 5 minutes!
The reason I don’t use a VPN is because I am not such a technical person, and I don’t want to accidentally download a virus onto my computer when downloading a virtual private network. With a web based proxy service no downloading or installation is required. It really is so simple.
